Yesterday, Sean Ross of Fightful Select reported that, Toni Storm has released from her WWE contract.
PWInsider reported that, “The story making the rounds is that Storm requested and received a release. The word among talents is that Storm flew herself home from Baltimore. WWE's internal announcement didn’t state Storm was released due to budget cuts.”
However, according to Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net, “Toni Storm did fly out following the WWE Live Event and she paid out of her own pocket to fly herself home. I was told, “Turns out, Toni didn’t exactly request her release… she just up and quit. WWE handling it as her asking for her release and then them granting it.”
Toni Storm last wrestle SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks in a Triple Threat match on Tuesday at live event in Washington, DC.
In a recent interview with Ryan Satin’s “Out of Character” podcast Toni Storm talked about sitting in catering after being called up to the main roster.
It’s the worst cause you just don’t know. Obviously, wrestling so unpredictable. Next week you could be main eventing and winning a title and everything could be happening or nothing. You don’t know. This is show business at the end of the day. It’s a topsy turvy industry. When you’re sat in catering, it’s not a good feeling. Just sitting there waiting for your shot. Waiting for your big break. Waiting to show everyone what you’ve worked your life to be good at. I just sat there ‘When am I next? What’s happening?’ Now stuff starts happening, I’m still like, ‘what’s going on?’ Oh, my God. What is my life?
Toni Storm is under a 90-day non-compete clause, which would make her a free agent from WWE when it expires on Tuesday, March 29th 2022.
