Troy "Two Dimes" Donovan, Tony D'Angelo & Channing "Stacks" Lorenzo won the six-man tag team match by defeating Legado del Fantasma (Santos Escobar, Cruz Del Toro, and Joaquin Wilde) on Saturday, June 4 at NXT In Your House.
However, WWE released Troy Donovan yesterday. Previously the company stated that they released superstars due to budget cuts. However, this time it is not the case.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer reported that NXT 2.0 star Troy Donovan had been released from the company. The exact reason for the release is not revealed yet, but Meltzer noted that it was a policy violation. Meltzer further stated that Donovan would hire by the company within a year.
Troy ‘Two Dimes’ Donovan of the D'Angelo family was let go yesterday [June 11], This wasn't a budget or creative decision, but a policy issue, and he was told he may be brought back in a year.
Sean Ross of Fightful also confirmed Meltzer’s report. He tweeted the following statement.
I can confirm Wrestling Observer's report that NXT talent Troy Donovan has been released by WWE. I've not heard of any additional releases as of yet.
