CM Punk dropped a pipe bomb during AEW All Out media scrum last month. During the press conference, Punk ripped Hangman Adam Page, Kenny Omega, and The Young Bucks which led to a huge backstage brawl. As of result, Tony Khan suspended all of those who were involved in the fight. Also, Khan stripped CM Punk and the Elite of their respective titles.
Earlier this week, Ace Steel who was reportedly involved in the backstage fight was released from the company. After Steel's release from AEW, Punk’s name has been trending on social media.
Recently, Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that AEW isn’t interested to bring back CM Punk. The company is reportedly in talks with Punk about a buy-out of the remaining years of his contract.
Fightful Select has reported that a lot of AEW wrestlers have refused to work with CM Punk following the All Out backstage incident. But they will consider working with Punk under significant conditions.
Fightful Select also noted that Triple H could be bringing CM Punk back as he wants to be successful more than anything. However, Vince McMahon’s regime never brings CM Punk back due to these controversies.
The line of thinking that was presented to us under the Triple H regime is that the right situation, right money and right creative can leave the door open for ‘anything within reason.’ One said “Triple H wants to be a success and make compelling programming more than anything. CM Punk back in WWE is compelling programming, but I can’t see it being a full-time deal like what he has in AEW, because of exactly what happened in AEW. That’s even if he as interest. If he gets a buyout he may not need to work again.
