Kenny Omega made his highly anticipated return on the August 17th episode of AEW Dynamite after nine months of absence. Omega then teamed up with The Young Bucks and won the inaugural AEW World Trios Championship at All Out pay-per-view. However, their title reign was kept short following a backstage incident during the All Out media scrum.
AEW President Tony Khan then suspended everyone who was involved in the backstage melee during the All Out media scrum including Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks. Khan also stripped AEW Trios Titles from The Elite.
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer reported that Kenny Omega’s AEW contract is set to expire earlier next year. However, the company has an option to extend Omega’s contract by nine months due to his injury hiatus.
Kenny Omega’s contract with AEW expires on January 30, 2023. However, AEW has the option to extend that date by nine months (until the end of October) because that’s how much time he missed due to injury.- H/T Cageside Seats
AEW celebrates its third anniversary on this week’s AEW Dynamite without their EVPs. As of this writing, there’s no exact report about what the future holds for The Elite, CM Punk, and Ace Steel.
