This release came as a shock to everyone, including his storyline partner Alexa Bliss. She tweeted,
I really am at a loss for words… thank you so much Windham for everything you’ve done for this company. The most fun I’ve had is working with you. Such an amazing talent & the most kind person. I’m just in shock.
Dave Meltzer gave an update about the release of Wyatt. He said,
Wyatt was told by John Laurinaitis that his release was due to budget cuts. He was preparing to return.
This was later confirmed by Sean Ross Sapp of Fighful Select.
According to a report from PWInsider, Staff were “stunned” within the company, and that would be a “massive understatement.”
Bray Wyatt was a top merchandise seller for the WWE. The Wyatt and Fiend characters would remain under WWE's ownership. However, there’s no report about his 90 day non-compete clause.
